Artist Lecture: Jason Hanasik

Artist, photographer, critic and independent curator Jason Hanasik will be giving a public lecture on his award winning project: He Opened Up Somewhere Along the Eastern Shore as well as his latest projects: I Slowly Watched Him Disappear and I’m Still Here. Hanasik will also be giving the first public lecture on how He Opened Up Somewhere Along the Eastern Shore fits into a larger multi-year investigation tentatively titled He. Hanasik will also be offering a workshop on Saturday, February 5th: Contemporary Photographic Practice and Portfolio Development.

Jason Hanasik has an MFA from California College of the Arts in San Francisco, where he now advises students in the graduate program in fine arts.  Hanasik’s work has been exhibited widely and published in various journals and publications nationwide. As a lecturer, Hanasik has delivered talks at SFMoMa, various colleges and universities nationwide, and during the Society for Photographic Education’s West Conference in 2008. This past spring a portfolio of his project, “He Opened Up Somewhere Along the Eastern Shore,” was published in the Society for Photographic Education’s journal Exposure and selected by Aperture Magazine for their Portfolio Prize Competition.
