Photographic Center Northwest (PCNW) is pleased to present our 2018 Thesis Exhibition, celebrating this year’s graduates of the Certificate Program: Leah Freed and Lesley Low. This exhibition marks not only the culmination of the 53-credit program, and presentation of a year-long project for these individuals, but introduces a new generation of Northwest artists.
Join us for their graduation reception Thursday, June 28, 6-9pm, and an artist lecture July 19 at 6:30pm.
Leah Freed’s series feeling bad about feeling good about feeling bad is her obsessive need to create photographs as escape. It’s a means of coping with every day stressors – things that linger and absorb mental focus, time, and energy. Through the constant act of making, Leah is able to reflect, process and reflect again in a continuous cycle.

Lesley Low’s series Useful Life examines the details of machines that spend their life being used for a practical purpose. The silver gelatin prints show the beauty of the textures, grit, scars, and dirt found in the details.
